How we kept afloat during a pandemic that saw many small businesses shutting their doors for good.

MY journey as an entrepreneur has not only made me resilient but has forced me to literally think “solutions” always. Every time im faced with a challenge, i no longer go into a frenzy but i have mastered the skill of transitioning to solutions mode. Survival instincts are innate in all of us. Whenever i am faced with a seemingly unresolvable challenge, i remember what my mother used to say to me growing up “ As long as im still walking ontop of my grave, failure is beneath my feet, defeat is beneath my feet.” This became a token of hope and resilience that has seen me achieve way beyond my imagination.

When the pandemic hit last year and no one was knocking at our door for briefs and approved projects had to be put on hold,  i set aside time for proactive ideas with my team. We came up with so many ideas in the hopes that we’d sell to potential clients. That truly kept us going and igniting our hope. And as fate would have it, we managed to sell one of our concepts to a renowned organisation. As i write this message now, the concept is in implementation stage and will be launched soon. Did I think this would be possible? I’m not sure, I just knew that for as long as I had my mind and hands, I’d work at anything to make sure that my dreams and vision still materialized even when the world and my surrounding did not seem like the best incubators for my vision at the time.

I have come to believe that truly success lies in the face of adversity, that it is in the toughest of times when all you need to do is just keep pushing a little harder until a breakthrough surfaces. When you allow your eyes to reach further than what’s in the fore, therein lies materialised visions and victory. Keep pushing a little harder, your breakthrough is closer than you think. It’s amazing how a little tomorrow can make up for a whole lot of yesterday. Keep pushing, just a little bit more.

“Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”  ~ Matthew 17:20
